Desert Island Disc reduc
One album, no compilations. One book.

Mine would be the Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers, and William Boyd's A Good Man In Africa,

Yours?

A Good an in Africa was one of the funniest things I have ever read, a brilliant book. You can keep your Rolling Stones though.

WHO constantly surprises. Feel like I’ve stumbled onto a late night Channel 4 show from the 1980s.

FWIW-

Jailbreak- Thin Lizzy (which includes The Boys are Back in Town along with some sadly neglected gems)
Catch 22- Joseph Heller (Interviewer: “You’ve never written anything as good since.” Heller: “Neither has anyone else”)

“Orphans” by Tom Waits, which blags me a cheeky triple album, subtitled “Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards,” which is a decent effort to try to categorize Waits’ different directions.

Actually, I’ll have to toss a coin to choose between that and “Studio One Presents Sound of the Burning Spear” by Burning Spear.

No, fuck you and your rules. I’m taking both.

For a book, “Earthly Powers” by Anthony Burgess, which blew me away, even though I knew I didn’t get half of it and would need to reread every 20 years or so. Probably due a reread now.

Songs in the Key of Life, for the music.

For the read, anything long enough that, by the time I'd got to the end, I'll have forgotten how it started and need to read it again.

Any late 50s/Early 60 copy of the Beano or Dandy would work.

Infinite Jest - David Foster Wallace, completely baffled me last time I attempted to read it but would have plenty of time on the Island to get my noggin around it.
